In the first half of the session, you will race against the clock as your team tries to “break out” by solving a series of challenges. Be prepared to immerse yourself in creative problem-solving that will require teamwork, communication, and “outside the box” thinking! Next, collaborate with each other to find/modify/or create your own games that can be shared at your site.

This session is part of the STEM Implementation Training Series; participants who attend this training will be eligible to borrow these kits from the STEM Hub Lending Library.

This session is 3 hours; those who attend this session will only attend this session.

Quality Standards: Because Quality Matters

Michelle Nelson, Program Coordinator California Afterschool Network

Paige Azcona, California Afterschool Network, Administrative Assistant

Quality programs result in positive outcomes for expanded learning participants and a common vision for quality among stakeholders is the first step on the path to quality. The Quality Standards for Expanded Learning in California are intended to create a framework of clear expectations, and a shared vision of quality among multiple stakeholders. Come learn about how the Quality Standards were developed and why they were developed as an aspirational framework serving as the foundation of a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process. Participants will have the opportunity to share and explore promising programmatic practices related to specific Quality Standards.
